Miracles

Birutė Banevičiūtė (Lithuania), featuring local artists and children

Miracles happen in nature every day. Changes and transformations create beauty and variety in our world. Full of different colours, shapes, smells and movements our nature reveals incredible treasures which we need to protect and foster. Educational dance performance Miracles explores changes of natural objects through movement. Children together with professional dancers improvise on the themes of how seeds transform into flowers, caterpillars into butterflies, caviar into frogs, eggs into birds, human cells into human beings. Mothers’ cells and fathers’ cells unite into one cell which multiplies into millions of cells and a new human being appears. The idea and method of this creative educational dance project created by choreographer and professor Birute Baneviciute gives a great opportunity for children who without any preliminary dance experience can participate in a performance with professional dancers. This project Miracles was implemented with neurodiverse children (with Down syndrome, Autism, ect.) and children with various disabilities in Vilnius in 2021.
